About us: The PROGRIP Company History
Plastiche Cassano Srl, known around the world as PROGRIP, is a family business that was started by Mr. Francesco Assaghi, the grandfather of the current owners. The original company was founded in 1925 and was located in Cassano Magnago, a town located about 10 minutes from the Malpensa Airport, just outside of Milan, Italy.
In the 20's and 30's, Plastiche Cassano specialized in the production of handlebar grips made with buffalo horns, which were boiled, dried and turned on lathes. The bicycle and motorcycle industries were in their infancy and Plastiche Cassano was supplying grips to both since the beginning.
Immediately after World War II, the first handlebar grips in plastic, backelite and acetate were produced. In those days the production capacity was of about 1.000 pairs of grips per day.
We then moved manufacturing in 1960 to another location in via Roma, and we became members of the Chamber of Commerce in that same year. Afterwards moved to the current location and have been expanding our operations ever since. Today we produce over 200,000 grips per day, and 70% of our products are exported worldwide.
